What is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy (musculoskeletal therapy) is the assessment of muscular injury and dysfunction, the application of various physical modalities to treat pain, and the rehabilitation and treatment of the soft tissue and underlying causes. It aims to improve muscular strength, flexibility, and to decrease pain.

It is a holistic approach to injury management as the whole body is taken into account as well as your specific issue. We use evidence-based treatment techniques such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, fascial stretching, dry needling, cupping, joint mobilisations and heat/cryo therapies

The philosophy of myotherapy is founded on Western medical principles including anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. Myotherapy is similar to osteopathy and physiotherapy, however, a broader spectrum of assessment and treatment is considered.

Our Practitioners hold Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy) degrees and are constantly partaking in professional development to keep their skills updated and evolving at all times.

Is Myotherapy Right for Me?

Have you been feeling general aches and pains, headaches, neck or back pain, joint stiffness, neurological symptoms, or reduced flexibility?

These symptoms can represent underlying conditions such as strains, sprains, occupational, postural and recreational stresses, emotional stress, incorrect ergonomics, faulty biomechanics, muscular imbalances, traumatic or overuse injury, chronic neuromuscular or musculoskeletal illness, or disease.

An initial Myotherapy consultation will involve a brief medical history, presenting injury history, skeletal structure and postural assessment, range of movement testing, joint mobility, muscle strength and neurological testing, orthopedic tests and a palpatory assessment.

Long appointments are scheduled to give you the assessment and treatment you deserve.
